Tochi's Hot Chicken
A hand-built site for a Nashville-style hot chicken joint — designed to push orders through the restaurant's own storefront instead of a commission-taking marketplace.

Overview
Tochi's serves Nashville-style hot chicken in Myrtle Beach and doubles as a sports bar and private event space. Every order routed through a third-party marketplace costs them margin, so the site is built to send people to their own storefront first.
It's three hand-written pages with no framework and no build step — which means it loads fast, costs almost nothing to host, and the owner isn't locked into anyone's platform.
The brief
Give a restaurant a site that sells the food, drives orders through their own commission-free storefront rather than a marketplace, and opens two new revenue lines — catering and private events — without adding a platform they have to pay for or maintain.
At a glance
- 3 hand-built pages, no framework
- Full menu structured data
- Commission-free ordering path
- Catering + events funnels
- Measured accessible colour
What we did
The build, step by step
Hand-built three pages — the main site plus dedicated catering and private-events pages — in plain HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript, with no framework and no build step.
Marked up the full restaurant data for Google: address, hours, location, and the complete priced menu as structured data, so the food itself can surface in search results.
Pointed every order button at the restaurant's own storefront with campaign tracking attached, and kept them working as plain links even if JavaScript fails.
Built catering and private-event enquiry forms that fall back to showing the phone number rather than failing silently.
Added a live open/closed indicator driven by a single editable hours table — one place to change, no code.
Documented an accessible colour system: near-black on the brand orange at 7.0:1, instead of the white-on-orange that fails at 2.7:1.
Built a responsive image pipeline (WebP with JPEG fallbacks, multiple widths, preloaded hero) so the food photography loads fast on a phone.
The result
Designed and built, and in progress with the owner ahead of launch — a faster, self-owned site to replace the page they're on today.
